When decorating for fall, colors need not be the traditional yellow, orange and red. Nature is
playing a color symphony. Take notice not only of the tree leaves displaying
those beautiful vibrant hues but also the sky looks different, a
different light casts different colors on our drive to and from work and home. Everyday landscapes are
quickly changing. The temps drop. The mood becomes more about warmth. What colors do you associate with
cold and warm? The right shades of blues/greys/whites and
yellows/oranges/reds look amazing together. Maybe you like purple. Go
with it! Things become dry, parched, think of those textures. Days
shorten, darken. You can lean whichever direction you chose. When you
go deeper into what fall means to you and what you enjoy most you can
better personalize your decor. Is it the thought of family gatherings?
Put out photos of Thanksgiving/football gatherings etc . Throw blanket
and a good book? Set them out. A warm bowl of soup? Print off a
favorite recipe on decorative paper and make artwork out of it or use
your soup bowls and/or servers in your centerpiece. Hunting season?
Use antlers, feathers, etc. Bonfires, campfires, warm hearths? Candles,
candles, candles. Scents aren't visible but they are absolutely part of
the decor in that they are the final enhancement. Decor isn't just
about stuff and colors, it's about creating a whole environment that
helps you enjoy life.
